To help property owner adhere to the Landscape Water Management Regulations, the City of Allen, TX offers a $50.00 rebate for the installation of  rain and freeze sensors. Allen's city ordinance states that it is an offense when a homeowner is "irrigating lawn or landscape during any form of precipitation" or "causes the irrigation of impervious surfaces. Simply put, Allen's city ordinance bans watering during rain, sleet or snow, watering concrete, and over-watering that causes water to drain into the street or alley. There is also a provision that covers improperly maintained systems with broken pipes and sprinkler heads. A. Irrigation Pros will install the sensor for $135 plus tax. You will then be eligible for a $50 rebate from the the City of Allen. Irrigation Pros will also provide a free sprinkler system check up and adjust sprinkler heads so they point in the right direction.

 

Q. What are the terms of the rebate?

A. Yes, the City of Allen has set aside $50,000 for the program on a first come basis. The rebate applies residents with sprinkler systems installed prior to November 1, 2004. The rebate program runs between December 1, 2004 and expires September 30, 2005.

 

Q. Who is eligible to install the sensors?

A. Homeowner and licensed irrigators only. Beware, you may be contacted by several fly by night companies that are not licensed. On the rebate form, the license number of the irrigator must be present. Irrigation Pros License number is 12054.
